First B-Trust Masterclass: Co-Creating Biotech Trust in Agri-Food and Bio-based Industries

The B-Trust project is excited to announce the launch of its first masterclass in the series titled Unlocking Consumer Trust in Innovative Biotechnologies: A Masterclass Series. The opening session, Co-Creating Biotech Trust in Agri-Food and Bio-based Industries, will take place online on October 8th, from 9:00 to 10:30 CET.

This masterclass will explore the critical role of consumer trust in the adoption and success of biotechnologies in the agri-food and bio-based sectors. It will offer participants valuable insights into how businesses and research institutions can incorporate stakeholder concerns, communicate benefits and risks effectively, and ultimately build trust among the public.

Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from project partner Alice Down the Rabbit Hole, who will share details of a co-creation programme developed under the B-Trust project. This programme aims to engage consumers, farmers, and industry players in meaningful dialogue, ensuring that innovative biotechnologies are understood and accepted.

AGENDA

09:00 – 09:10 – Welcome & General Introduction by Flanders’ FOOD.

09:10 – 09:25 – Importance of fostering consumer acceptance of agri-food and biobased biotechnologies by Prof. Jessica Aschemann-Witzel, Professor and Center Director at MAPP, Aarhus University

09:25 – 09:40 – Grand Challenges testimonial by Dr. Laurien Van Dyck, Portfolio manager - VIB Grand Challenges Program.

09:40 – 09:55 – Testimonial of Paleo on their views of the importance of consumer acceptance in biotechnology by Anna De Cock, Paleo.

09:55 – 10:15 – Digging for trust: How co-creation can help assess the true beliefs and drivers of consumers and other stakeholders by Veerle Rijckaert, Alice down the rabbit hole co-founder.

10:15 – 10:30 Q&A.

10:30 – Wrap up & closing.

Who should attend?
The session is open to stakeholders in the agri-food and bio-based sectors, including companies, investors, biotechnology researchers, policymakers, and public authorities—anyone involved in implementing biotechnologies and concerned with public trust and social acceptance.

Why attend?

  • Learn how consumer trust impacts the success of biotech innovations
  • Discover best practices for capturing and addressing stakeholder concerns
  • Gain practical tools for communicating benefits and risks effectively

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enhance your understanding of consumer trust in biotechnologies. Register now and be part of the conversation on how to build a more trusted and sustainable future.
