The Smart Droplets project, in collaboration with Eurecat – Technology Centre, showcased cutting-edge precision agriculture technologies to local farmers during a dedicated Open Day held in Girona, Spain. Hosted at Serrater S.L. in L’Armentera, the event brought together 34 farmers and agricultural producers from across the region, reinforcing the project’s commitment to developing solutions grounded in real agricultural practice.
Designed to strengthen engagement with end users and key stakeholders, the Open Day provided a detailed look at the latest developments of the Smart Droplets system, while creating space for practical feedback to support its further development and validation.
The program began with an indoor technical session, during which the project team presented the Smart Droplets project objectives, system architecture, and planned use cases, highlighting potential real-world applications in agricultural operations. Project videos complemented the presentations, encouraging open discussion on both technical and practical aspects of technology.
Following the indoor session, participants moved outdoors to observe the Smart Droplets tractor-mounted platform operating under real field conditions. This live demonstration enabled direct, hands-on exchanges between farmers, technology developers, and researchers, with discussions centered on usability, system performance, and future needs.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the strong interest shown by participants, combined with active engagement and constructive feedback, underlined the importance of involving farmers throughout the innovation process. Insights gathered during the Open Day will directly contribute to shaping the next stages of Smart Droplets solution development.
The Open Day in Girona reflects the Smart Droplets project’s commitment to co-creation, knowledge transfer, and the advancement of smarter and more sustainable agricultural practices through close collaboration with the farming community.

The insights we gathered in Girona, from seasoned producers who have an intimate understanding of their fields, are now directly shaping how we refine the Smart Droplets platform.
