Why your input matters
The HAlMan project is not only focused on technological innovation but also on ensuring that the transition toward more sustainable metallurgical processes is socially responsible and beneficial for stakeholders across the value chain. About the HalMan project
The HAlMan project is developing an integrated and more sustainable approach to producing manganese and manganese alloys from manganese ores and Mn-containing waste streams. The process combines hydrogen-based pre-reduction of manganese ores with an aluminothermic reduction process using secondary aluminium sources.
By integrating these technologies, HAlMan aims to:
- Reduce the environmental footprint of manganese production
- Promote the reuse of secondary materials
- Support the circular economy within the metals industry
- Contribute to more sustainable and resource-efficient metallurgical processes
