Students and young professionals will have the chance to explore careers in the space sector when Switch to Space returns to Brussels on 18 November 2026.
Under the theme “Flying to the Moon and Further – Belgium embraces the challenge”, the fifth edition of Switch to Space will take place at Venue MIX, 25 Boulevard du Souverain, in Watermael-Boitsfort.
As the race to the Moon accelerates, the event will explore how Belgian industry and research can contribute to future lunar missions. Alongside discussions about exploration, it will give participants opportunities to meet potential employers, discover internships and learn about technologies shaping the space sector.
Belgium’s role in lunar exploration
The morning programme will examine how space jobs could evolve over the next five to ten years and the challenges facing Belgian industry in the race for lunar exploration. Students will also have the opportunity to put their questions to the panel.
In the afternoon, participants can choose between two parallel sessions exploring life on the Moon. One will focus on technical challenges, while the other will address legal and societal questions. Together, these discussions reflect the breadth of expertise needed to support future lunar activities.
Discover, connect and explore career opportunities
Career connections are central to Switch to Space. During the lunch break, participants can visit sponsor and startup booths, take part in speed dating and join “Ask Me Anything” conversations with experts. A dedicated wall for CVs, jobs and internships will help connect people with opportunities.
The event will also offer a chance to engage with young professionals who have launched their own companies, giving students insight into entrepreneurship within the space sector.
The day will close with a cocktail and networking reception from 17:30 to 19:30, providing more time to exchange ideas, meet potential collaborators and build professional contacts.
A sector open to different disciplines
Switch to Space is open to students and young professionals from around the world. It brings together expertise from industry, research centres, universities and space institutions, helping participants discover the range of career paths available.
As space activities expand and connections between terrestrial and space technologies grow, multidisciplinary skills are increasingly valuable. The event aims to help students understand where their knowledge and interests could fit into this evolving field.
For Dominique Tilmans, the invitation is to imagine a working life driven by curiosity, discovery and the opportunity to push the limits of knowledge. Switch to Space 5 will give participants a chance to explore what that future could look like—and meet people who can help them take their first steps.
Switch to Space 5 takes place on 18 November 2026 at Venue MIX, 25 Boulevard du Souverain, Watermael-Boitsfort.
