Can you tell whether a photo, article or video was created by a person or by artificial intelligence? Increasingly, the answer is no. And that’s exactly why transparency matters.
To promote transparency and comply with the new European rules that apply from 2 August, WIT News is introducing an important update to our publication policy.
What is changing?
From 2 August, every piece of content submitted for publication to WIT News must include a clear declaration stating whether it contains AI-generated or AI-assisted material.
This applies to:
- articles and opinion pieces,
- press releases,
- photographs,
- illustrations and graphics,
- videos,
- audio recordings,
- and any other visual or written material submitted for publication.
We accept AI-generated content, but…
At WIT News, we recognise that artificial intelligence is becoming an important part of modern communication. We do accept and publish AI-generated text, images and other visual materials.
However, transparency is essential.
Whenever AI has been used to create or substantially modify submitted content, this must be clearly disclosed. Likewise, if no AI tools were used to generate the content, we ask contributors to confirm this as well.
What we ask from contributors
When submitting content, please include one of the following statements:
- This article is/ is not AI generated
- This image is / is not AI generated
- This video is / is not AI generated
Where AI has been used, we also encourage contributors to briefly indicate which AI tool(s) were used.
Content without a declaration may not be published
If we cannot determine the origin of submitted content or if no AI declaration is provided, WIT News reserves the right not to publish the material until the necessary information has been received.
This policy helps us maintain transparency with our readers and ensures that our publication practices align with current European requirements.
We kindly ask all contributors, organisations and communications professionals to include this information whenever they submit material for publication.

By submitting content to WIT News, the contributor confirms that all information provided regarding the use of artificial intelligence is accurate and complete. The contributor accepts responsibility for any false or misleading declaration concerning AI-generated or AI-assisted content.
WIT News relies on the declarations provided by contributors. Where a declaration is found to be inaccurate or misleading, WIT News reserves the right to remove the content, publish a correction, or decline future submissions from the contributor.
