The Horizon 2020 project LOCALISED aims to close the information gap between national-level decarbonization strategies and the local needs of cities, businesses, and citizens striving to implement energy transitions and climate adaptation. By developing user-friendly tools, the project seeks to empower local authorities and stakeholders to accelerate planning processes and business models toward achieving deep decarbonization.
LOCALISED brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of experts, including leading institutions in the fields of multi-sectoral energy transition, economic analysis, city adaptation, and climate impact assessment. In addition, policy consultants, communication experts, and citizen engagement professionals contribute to the project’s holistic approach.
As part of its mission, the project has just released its first policy brief, titled “Future Disparities: Asymmetric Climate Change Investments and Their Implications.”
This publication offers key insights into the regional disparities in investment needs to reach net-zero emissions across Europe. The detailed projections, down to the local NUTS-3 level, are crucial for supporting climate action planning and investment at the regional scale.
This policy brief is an invaluable resource for policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders working toward Europe’s decarbonization goals. LOCALISED invites the wider community to share this work across networks, helping amplify its impact and contribute to a more coordinated and effective climate response across Europe.
