The HydroMetEC provides innovative professional training courses by applying digital approaches and tools, organizing international seminars, as well as building a European network in the field.
For who?
This training course is aimed at engineers, scientists, researchers, technologists, postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers in hydrometallurgy or related fields as well as young or experienced individuals looking to broaden their knowledge outside their current field.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Hydrometallurgy I (September 12, 2023)
- Hydrometallurgical process in metals production
- Metal resources for extraction and recycling
- Key techniques inlcude leaching, separation, and electrowinning
Module 2: Fundamentals of Hydrometallurgy II (September 19, 2023)
- Principles of thermodynamics (including HSE use)
- Kinetics in hydrometallurgy processes
- Sampling and materials characterization
Module 3: Hydrometallurgical process applications (September 26, 2023)
- Production of alumina, zinc, solar silicon, and Sc
- Recycling of PGEs and lithium-ion batteries
- Innovative applications in iron production
The 3-day comprehensive course in Hydrometallurgy given by recognized academia and industrial experts. Among other experienced professionals, the course will be given by Professor Jafar Safarian (NTNU), Professor Panias Dimitrius (NTUA) and professionals from MYTILINEOS (a Greek-based leading global industrial and energy company) who are Horizon Europe project HAlMan consortium partners.
When?
It will take place online on Tuesdays 12, 19 and 26 of September 2023. The training of each day will last approximately 7,5 h (with breaks) and is planning to start at 09:00 CET.
