We are pleased to announce the successful achievement of Milestone 2 – Mapping of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) solutions, accomplished by CETAQUA in August 2024. This represents a significant advancement in the implementation of the SYMBA project and contributes meaningfully to the broader understanding of Industrial Symbiosis across Europe.
This milestone has been reached through the completion and submission of Deliverable 3.1 – Report on Current Industrial Symbiosis Solutions in Europe, alongside the publication of the IS Solutions Database on the SYMBA Community on Zenodo. This open-access resource is now publicly available and constitutes a valuable contribution to the exchange of knowledge within the Industrial Symbiosis field.
If you are already registered on Zenodo, you may access the database by clicking here.

The Report on Current IS Solutions in Europe provides a comprehensive overview of existing initiatives across the continent. It presents an in-depth analysis of current knowledge, with a specific focus on:
- Approaches and methodologies adopted to implement IS practices;
- Digital platforms and tools that foster and enable IS at EU level;
- Outcomes from the collection and assessment of data on key indicative resources including water, energy, metals, plastics, biological feedstocks, textiles, and others.
By consolidating this extensive body of knowledge, the report lays the groundwork for future policy development, innovation strategies, and actionable roadmaps that support the adoption of circular and symbiotic practices within Europe’s industrial landscape.
We invite you to follow SYMBA on our social media channels to stay informed about our latest achievements, ongoing developments, and upcoming activities. Join us in fostering the transition toward a more circular, resource-efficient, and sustainable European economy.
